The Autonomous Region of Madeira (R.A.M) is the Portuguese archipelago located in the Atlantic Ocean, 90 minutes off Lisbon and 3 hours off the major European capitals.
The Region is endowed with political and administrative autonomy through the Political Administrative Statute of the Autonomous Region of Madeira fixed in the Constitution of the Portuguese Republic. The Autonomous Region of Madeira is a part of the European Union with the status of the outermost region of the EU territory, as stipulated in Article 299-2 of the Treaty of the European Union
